Parents should be advised that there will be a spectator sideline and a coaches/ players sideline. It is customary that spectators set up their chairs on the parent sideline from the midline across from your team bench; leaving the opposite midline available for parents from the opposing team. Spectators are not allowed to set up chairs behind the goals or on the Coaches/ players sideline.

Please be sure that your parents are aware of the following rules for the Silliman Center Sportsfield Turf:

The City of Newark (who owns the fields) has established important rules for using them. Please communicate the following rules to your parents ahead of the game. Our hope is that by providing this communication to our teams prior to the game it will eliminate the embarrassment of a Field Marshall asking anyone to leave the facility if they are found to have prohibited items.

• Food, beverages, gum, sunflower seeds, nuts, candy and sports drinks are strictly prohibited within the gated turf fields. Glass bottles/containers are not allowed. ONLY WATER IS ALLOWED.

• No metal cleats allowed.

• No staked chairs, umbrellas, tents, flags or other outdoor furniture allowed on turf fields.

• Nothing may be staked or anchored into the turf. Signs and banners are not allowed to be posted on fences, gates or poles.

• Dogs and pets are not allowed within gated turf fields or on any grass field during permitted sporting activities

• Bicycles, skateboards, roller blades, scooters and other conveyances are not allowed.

• Spectators must wear appropriate footwear. No high-heels.

Thank you everyone!

Hello BGP families,

This is a gentle reminder that BGP is a dog free zone from 8:10 am through 3:30 pm.  Exceptions are for certified service animals and instructional purposes per NUSD Board policy 6163.2.  Please leave your fur babies at home when you come to school for your human babies.

Hola familias BGP,

Would your child be excited to see a story they’ve created made into a hardcover book?  Then read on, about the Birch Grove Young Author program!

Young Authors is a voluntary writing activity for TK – 6th grade students.  Students can choose to write their own work of fiction or poetry.  This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to express herself/himself in a creative, extra-curricular, writing project.

The program kicks-off at Birch Grove schools in December 2019, with a Request For Information (RFI) sheet coming home with your child.  This may be returned through the end of January 2020.  When the RFI is returned, an information packet will be sent home.

Students may turn in their story/poetry to their teacher, or directly to Mrs. Jackson in the BGP library or Ms. Lee in the BGI library, anytime through Feb. 27th, 2020.

We will have a party to celebrate all of our authors.

Please join us at the Birch Grove Primary Publishing Event:
